A launch isn't one number. It's fees on every platform you sold through, priced differently on each one.

Teachable prices by plan tier. Thinkific bundles processing into a flat monthly fee. Gumroad charges per transaction. Owelet normalizes all three so your launch total means something real.

The plan-tier problem

Course platforms don't price fees the same way, which makes a multi-platform launch harder to total than it should be. Teachable ties its fee to your plan tier: Starter charges 7.5% per sale on top of a $29/month subscription (billed annually), while Builder removes the transaction fee entirely for $69/month. Thinkific takes a different approach, charging 0% with its own built-in payment processor regardless of plan, with only standard card processing applying underneath. Gumroad is different again: a flat 10% plus $0.50 per sale, with no subscription at all.

None of these numbers are wrong, they're just incompatible with each other on a spreadsheet unless you convert every platform's pricing into the same unit: what you actually keep per sale. A course that costs $200 nets meaningfully different amounts depending on which platform sold it and which plan you were on when it did.

Worked example

At $533 in monthly Teachable sales, Starter (7.5% fee, $29/mo annual) and Builder (0% fee, $69/mo annual) cost exactly the same: about $69 total either way. Below $533/month, Starter is cheaper. Above it, Builder is. Most creators upgrade based on a launch spike without checking whether their steady-state volume actually clears that line.

Launches make the tracking problem worse, not just bigger. Revenue that normally trickles in steadily arrives in a concentrated window, often split across a main course on Teachable or Thinkific and a lower-priced companion product on Gumroad sold to the same list. Each platform pays out on its own schedule and takes its own cut, so the launch's real total, after every fee on every platform, is not visible anywhere until someone adds it up by hand.

Owelet connects to each platform directly, reads your actual plan tier and fee structure, and calculates real net per sale automatically. A launch across two or three platforms rolls up into one accurate number, the same day the sales happen, not weeks later once every payout has cleared and you've reconciled it yourself.

Compare your own numbers in the Teachable fee calculator or Thinkific fee calculator.

How it works

How Owelet works across every course platform

1

Connect each platform via read-only OAuth

Teachable, Thinkific, Gumroad, and any companion platform you sell through. Read-only: Owelet can see your sales but can't touch your courses or your money.

2

Owelet pulls every sale's real numbers

Gross, fee, and net per enrollment, accounting for your actual plan tier on each platform, not a generic estimate.

3

See your real launch numbers, combined

One dashboard across every platform, so a launch spread across Teachable and Gumroad shows one true total, not two dashboards you have to add up yourself.

FAQ

Common questions

It depends entirely on your monthly volume and which plan you're on. Teachable Starter charges 7.5% per sale on top of a $29/month (annual) subscription; Builder drops the fee to 0% for $69/month. The breakeven between those two Teachable plans is around $533/month in sales. Thinkific charges 0% with its own payment processor on every plan, so the comparison depends on which Thinkific tier's features you actually need.

Around $533 in monthly course sales. Below that, Starter's 7.5% transaction fee costs less than the $40/month difference between the two plans (annual billing). Above it, Builder's 0% fee saves more than the subscription premium costs.

Because revenue arrives in a spike rather than a steady trickle, often across more than one platform if you cross-sell a mini-course on Gumroad alongside a main course on Teachable or Thinkific. Each platform's payout schedule and fee structure is different, so the same launch produces different net timing and different net amounts depending on where each sale landed.

Often yes, for a lower-priced companion product (a mini-course, a template pack, a workbook) sold to the same audience. The fee structures don't match, though: Gumroad's 10% + $0.50 direct rate is a different shape than Teachable's plan-based percentage or Thinkific's flat processing, which is exactly the kind of comparison a normalized dashboard handles better than mental math.

Take your platform's advertised price, subtract the actual fee for that platform and plan, and you have your real per-sale net. Do this per platform if you sell the same course in more than one place, since the fee (and therefore your real margin per student) differs by platform even at an identical list price.

Teachable, Thinkific, Gumroad, Stripe, Patreon, Ko-fi, Lemon Squeezy, Buy Me a Coffee, Etsy, and Paddle. Connect whichever combination reflects how you actually sell your courses and companion products.
