Compare creator platform fees
Enter your sale price once and see what eight creator platforms take from every transaction — sorted by who keeps you the most. Every platform uses its default or most common fee tier.
Fees include both the platform cut and card processing. Some platforms bundle these together (Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy), while others charge them separately (Stripe, Patreon). This calculator normalizes everything so you can compare apples to apples.
MoR = Merchant of Record (handles sales tax/VAT for you). Rates are per-transaction on the most common tier. Monthly subscription costs (Teachable, Thinkific) are not included — see individual calculators for break-even analysis.
What these numbers mean
Platform fee is what the platform charges for hosting, distribution, or being the merchant of record. Gumroad charges 10%, Patreon charges 10%, Ko-fi charges 0% on tips. Some platforms roll this into a single all-in rate.
Processing fee is the card network cost — typically 2.9% + $0.30 for domestic US transactions. Platforms that act as merchants of record (Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy) include this in their headline rate.
Effective rate is the total percentage of your sale that goes to fees. It drops as your price rises because the fixed $0.30–$0.50 per-transaction charge matters less on a $200 sale than a $5 one.
Monthly plan costs (Teachable $39/month, Thinkific $36/month) are not included in the per-transaction math above. On low-volume months, the subscription can be a bigger cost than the percentage fees. See each platform's individual calculator for break-even analysis.
