Refunding a sale doesn't refund the fee — unless you ask

Etsy's 6.5% transaction fee is not automatically returned when you refund an order. You have to actively request the fee refund — within 48 hours of the cancellation. Miss the window and the fee is gone even though you returned the full sale.

Offsite Ads fees are never refunded under any circumstances, even on a full refund. On a chargeback, Etsy handles the dispute but can recoup $15–$25 plus the item cost from the seller regardless of outcome.

The listing fee is $0.20 per unit sold, not per listing — selling 100 copies of one digital download costs $20 in listing fees alone.

Per sale, per unit. If one listing sells 50 copies of a digital download, that's $10 in listing fees from that listing alone — not a single flat $0.20.

When is Etsy Offsite Ads mandatory?

Once a shop crosses $10,000 in trailing-12-month sales, Offsite Ads participation becomes mandatory rather than optional, and the 15% fee applies to any sale Etsy attributes to a click on one of its ads within 30 days.
