Gumroad Payout Schedule: When You Actually Get Paid

By Momo · Founder of Owelet

Quick answer

Gumroad pays out on whatever frequency you choose in Payout Settings: daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly. The standard minimum balance to trigger a payout is $10, not the $100 figure that circulates online (that $100 is actually the balance needed for Discover listing eligibility, a separate thing). Every sale also sits in a 7-day holding period before it's eligible to go out at all.

Gumroad doesn't have one fixed payout day. It has four, and you pick which one applies to you. That flexibility is genuinely useful, but it also means most "when does Gumroad pay" articles online are answering the wrong question, because they assume a single schedule that doesn't exist.

What Are Gumroad's Payout Frequency Options?

You choose your payout frequency in Payout Settings: daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Whichever you pick, Gumroad batches your eligible sales and sends them out on that cadence automatically, straight to your linked bank account or PayPal.

Weekly is the most common default for active sellers, and Gumroad's own systems track weekly batches as running through the previous Friday (UTC), so a sale made on a Wednesday is grouped into that week's batch, cut off at the following Friday. If you've never touched your payout settings, check what frequency you're actually on before assuming it's weekly.

What Is Gumroad's Minimum Payout Amount?

$10, in US dollars. This is worth being precise about, because a $100 figure circulates widely and it isn't the payout minimum at all. It's the balance threshold Gumroad uses for a completely different purpose: eligibility for Gumroad Discover listing. Confusing the two leads sellers to think their money is stuck until $100 accumulates, when in reality $10 is enough to trigger a normal payout.

A handful of countries have a higher local-currency minimum instead of $10 (600 THB in Thailand, 40,000 KRW in South Korea, for example). Gumroad's payout settings page shows the number that applies to your account.

Why Is There a Delay Before My Sale Shows Up as Paid?

Every sale, regardless of payout frequency, sits in a 7-day holding period before it's eligible to go out. This isn't a punishment or a sign of a problem. It's standard practice across most payment platforms, giving time for a chargeback or obvious fraud to surface before money moves. If you sell something today, the earliest it can leave in a payout is 7 days from now, even on a daily payout schedule.

That 7-day rule is also why switching your frequency from monthly to daily doesn't make already-pending sales appear faster. It only changes how often Gumroad checks whether anything currently eligible is ready to send.

How Long Does Your First Payout Actually Take?

Longer than the 7-day hold alone suggests. Brand-new accounts go through a separate account review, typically 1 to 3 weeks, before the first payout releases at all. Gumroad bases this on having enough sales data to evaluate an account, commonly a handful of sales past the $10 minimum, and every account is treated individually rather than on a fixed calendar.

The two delays stack rather than overlap. A sale on day one of a new account still needs its own 7-day hold to clear, and the account itself may still be inside its 1-3 week review window regardless of how long any individual sale has been sitting. A new seller expecting a payout a week after their first sale, because that's what the frequency setting implies, is often looking at closer to a month in practice. This is normal, not a sign anything is wrong, and it resolves permanently once the review completes.

How Do International Sellers Get Paid?

It depends on where you're located, and the options are narrower than many sellers expect. Gumroad has a direct banking relationship enabling ACH bank transfer in a specific set of countries, including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Morocco, and Algeria. In those countries, you provide your bank's routing and account numbers and Gumroad transfers directly, with no intermediary and no extra fee for the transfer method itself.

Outside that list, PayPal is the fallback payout method. PayPal adds its own cost on top of what Gumroad already takes: a receiving fee on international transfers, plus a currency conversion spread when you withdraw to your local currency. Neither of these is a Gumroad fee, but they reduce what actually lands in your local account below the number Gumroad's dashboard shows as your payout.

One explicit restriction worth knowing before you set up payouts: Gumroad does not support Payoneer or Wise (formerly TransferWise) as a payout method, in any country. If you were planning around either of those, bank transfer (where available) or PayPal are the only two options.

Can You Get Paid Faster Than the Standard Schedule?

Yes, with conditions. Daily payouts are available to US sellers with an eligible bank account and at least 4 prior successful payouts, since Gumroad needs payout history before it opens up the fastest tier. Beyond daily, Gumroad also offers a near-instant option: eligible US sellers can receive funds within minutes for balances up to $10,000, for a 3% fee on top of Gumroad's standard fees. That's a real cost for real speed, worth it only if the cash-flow timing matters more than the extra few percent.

What Actually Delays a Gumroad Payout?

Three things account for almost every delayed payout question:

You haven't hit your minimum yet. If your frequency is monthly and your balance sits at $6, nothing goes out this cycle regardless of the calendar date.

The 7-day hold hasn't cleared. A sale from three days ago isn't going anywhere yet, no matter what frequency you're on.

Your bank account details need attention. An unverified or incorrectly entered bank account will hold a payout that's otherwise ready, and Gumroad will flag this in your dashboard rather than silently retry forever.

Your account is still inside its first-payout review window. If you're new, this is very likely the answer. See the review-period section above before assuming something is broken.

If none of those explain a missing payout, the next place to look is your payout settings page directly. It shows your current frequency, your next scheduled date, and your available balance, which resolves most "where's my money" questions faster than guessing.

Payout Schedule Isn't the Same Question as Fee Size

Knowing when Gumroad pays doesn't tell you how much it pays. A weekly batch and a monthly batch of the same sales total the same net amount, since Gumroad's 10% platform fee, $0.50 flat fee, and separate card processing apply per transaction regardless of when the money is disbursed. If your actual question is why a payout came in lower than expected, that's a fee breakdown problem, not a timing one. See why Gumroad payouts run lower than the sales total for the full math.

Comparing Gumroad's Timing to Other Platforms

Gumroad's flexibility (you set the frequency) is unusual. Most platforms fix the schedule for you: Stripe runs a rolling 2-business-day basis, Patreon pays around the 5th of the month, and Etsy defaults new sellers to weekly Monday deposits. If you sell on more than one platform, tracking which schedule applies where gets confusing fast. The free payout calendar lays out all ten platforms Owelet connects to side by side, toggled to just the ones you use.

If Gumroad is one of several places you sell, the harder problem usually isn't the schedule at all. It's that each platform reports its payout differently, so building a real picture of your combined cash flow means checking four or five dashboards by hand. Owelet connects to Gumroad and 9 other platforms via read-only OAuth and shows your real net income, per platform, automatically. Free to start, two platforms, no card required.

Frequently asked questions

Whatever you choose in Payout Settings: daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly. There's no single fixed Gumroad payout day that applies to every seller. It depends on the frequency you've set.

$10 in the US, with higher minimums in some local currencies (600 THB in Thailand, 40,000 KRW in South Korea). This is a different number from the $100 balance needed for Discover eligibility, which is a common mix-up.

Every sale has a minimum 7-day holding period before it becomes eligible for payout, regardless of which frequency you've chosen.

Yes, if you're a US seller with an eligible bank account and at least 4 prior payouts. Gumroad also offers near-instant payouts (within minutes) for up to $10,000, for a 3% fee, under the same eligibility rules.

That's a fee question, not a schedule question. Gumroad's 10% platform fee (30% on Discover sales), the $0.50 flat fee, and card processing are deducted before the payout amount is calculated. See our full Gumroad fee breakdown for the exact math.

Gumroad's own payout mechanics aren't tied to US banking holidays the way bank-dependent platforms are, but the bank transfer itself still has to move through your bank's normal processing, which can add a day or two around weekends.

New accounts go through an account review that typically takes 1 to 3 weeks, separate from and in addition to the standard 7-day hold on each sale. Gumroad bases the review on having enough sales data to evaluate, commonly a handful of sales past the $10 minimum. Your first payout is realistically further out than your chosen frequency alone would suggest.

No. Gumroad explicitly does not support Payoneer or Wise (formerly TransferWise) as payout methods, regardless of country. Payout options are direct bank transfer where available, or PayPal as the fallback.

Direct ACH bank transfer is available in a specific list of countries where Gumroad has a banking relationship, including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Morocco, and Algeria. You provide routing and account numbers and Gumroad transfers with no intermediary. Everywhere else, PayPal is the fallback, which adds its own receiving fee and currency conversion spread on top of Gumroad's standard fees.
